The NI Junior wheelchair tennis team have just returned after a week ends intense competition held in the prestigious Nottingham Tennis Centre.

It was the Dan Maskell Interim school games replacement event,  which brought together the top junior wheelchair tennis competitors from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The NI Team was represented by GB Junior player Ross Gourley from Belfast and Castlewellan`s Nathan McCabe. Ross made it through to the boys singles semi final after an impressive  win in the quarters over top English player Alex Chaston  5/3 4/0.   This put Ross through to the semi-final where he played world ranked number 5 junior Ben Bartram from England.  Although Ross matched the young English player throughout the match,  it proved to be Ben`s day as he won in straight sets. Ross and Nathan made good headway in the doubles event before narrowly going out in the semi final, final set tie break,  against the English pairing of Alex Chaston and Greg Slade 3/5 4/2 (10-6 TB) Congratulations to both Ross and Nathan and thanks to Ivor Jess MBE Team Manager and Adam Boyle Coach
