It is important to note however that there are some distinctions and different definitions in relation to safegaurding in Northern Ireland and the Republic or Ireland.
Garda Vetting in the Republic of Ireland is equivalent to Access NI in Northern Ireland. While some legislation in the Republic of Ireland makes elements of safeguarding a legal requirement it remains best practice in Northern Ireland. It is important to note however that these elements may have legal implications in some cases.
