The Co Antrim Championships 2023 hosted by Ballycastle Tennis took place the week beginning 10th July 2023. There was again a huge entry for this very prestigious event and despite some terrible weather
the tournament ran to completion with over 500 matches played during the week across the junior, senior and masters events. Entry was up again with nearly 300 players taking part, thanks to everyone who participated.
We were pleased to welcome Causeway Coast and Glens Deputy Lord Mayor Margaret-Anne McKillop to the finals and present the Mens and Ladies Singles Championships prizes. Well done to Jordan McKeown and Christine Duncan, winners of the Championship singles events.
Congratulations to James Laird, who was awarded the Damian McGuigan Trophy for the Junior Player of the Tournament for the week, a well-deserved honour.
Well done to David Stanton, inaugural winner of the Terry Davison Trophy for the Over 65 Singles Winner, presented in memory of the tournament groundsman who worked so hard for many years to maintain the grass courts to the highest standard for the tournament.
Thanks to Rosamund, Will, Carlos, Stephen and Greg for running the tournament and putting in long hours during the week.
Thanks also to Roger Henry and Michael Dean for their assistance in setting up the courts each day.
